Raksha Mantri to undertake an official visit to Vietnam & South Korea

Focus on bolstering military cooperation, industrial partnerships and maritime collaboration, promoting peace & stability in Indo-Pacific region: Shri Rajnath Singh

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to Vietnam from May 18 to 19, 2026, followed by Republic of Korea from May 19 to 21, 2026. In a post on X prior to his departure, Raksha Mantri looked forward to visiting the two Asian nations to further expand the scope of bilateral engagement. The focus will be on deepening strategic military cooperation, strengthening defence industrial partnerships, and boosting maritime collaboration, promoting peace & stability in the Indo-Pacific region, he said.

INDIAN OCEAN SHIP SAGAR DEPARTS COLOMBO AFTER SUCCESSFUL PORT CALL

The Indian Navy’s Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar departed Colombo, Sri Lanka on 18 May 2026 following a successful three-day port call, further reinforcing the enduring maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka and advancing India’s vision of MAHASAGAR - Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.

INDIAN NAVY’S FIRST TRAINING SQUADRON MAKES PORT CALL AT MOMBASA, KENYA

India - The ships of the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS) – INS Tir, INS Sujata, INS Shardul and ICGS Sarathi  made a port call at Mombasa, Kenya on 25 Sep 2025. The Squadron received a warm welcome from the Kenya Navy, along with the Defence Advisor and the Acting High Commissioner of India.

The ships are currently on a long-range training deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, having earlier visited Seychelles, Mauritius, La Réunion, and Mozambique.

INDIAN NAVY STRENGTHENS TIES WITH MOZAMBIQUE NAVY DURING PORT CALL OF FIRST TRAINING SQUADRON AT MAPUTO

India - In a demonstration of enduring maritime friendship, the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS) comprising INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Sarathi concluded its four-day port visit to Maputo, Mozambique from 16-19 Sep 2025.

During the deployment, 1TS engaged in a series of joint training to enhance operational interoperability with the Mozambique Navy. Activities included Joint Diving Operations, Firefighting, VBSS Ops and Bridge Machinery Control integration drills. Cross-training visit of Indian Navy trainees to Marine Commando School at Katembe, Sargent School at Boane, and the Army Practising School at Manhica fostered mutual understanding and cooperation. Sea riders of the Mozambique Navy embarked onboard 1TS ships for joint EEZ surveillance.

INDIAN NAVAL SHIP KADMATT ARRIVES IN SUVA, FIJI

India - Indian Naval Ship Kadmatt, an indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, arrived in Suva, Fiji on 15 Sep 2025, for a goodwill visit as part of her three-month deployment.

The port call reflects the deep-rooted historical, cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Fiji, while reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthen maritime cooperation and bilateral relations with friendly foreign countries.

India - Indian Navy's latest indigenously designed and constructed Diving Support Vessel (DSV), INS Nistar made its maiden port call at Changi, Singapore on 14 Sep 2025. The ship functioning under the Command and Control of the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet will be participating in the multinational Exercise Pacific Reach 2025 (XPR 25) commencing 15 Sep 2025.

INS TRIKAND AT SALAMIS BAY, GREECE

India - Indian Naval Ship Trikand, stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, called at Salamis Bay, Greece on 13 Sep 2025 during her ongoing deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.

During the visit, INS Trikand will participate in the maiden bilateral maritime exercise between India and Greece. The exercise is envisaged to enhance interoperability, refine tactical skills and deepen operational synergy.

During the port call at Salamis Bay, INS Trikand will engage in a host of activities to enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation and collaboration. These include interaction with senior military officials, planning discussions, cross deck visits and cultural exchanges to promote people-to-people connect. This will be followed by sea phase of the exercise.

On completion of the bilateral exercise, the ship will proceed for the next phase of deployment in the region.
